The Performing Ensembles

The Marching Band, Wind Symphony, Symphonic Band and Concert Band are the primary performing ensembles of the high school.  Each performing ensemble will hold its members to the highest level of musical performance and achievement.  Through participation in each of the ensembles, students will learn hard work, how to set goals and achieve them, create a team between each other, leadership skills, musicianship and will have fun during the process.  Below are more details relating to each facet of the band program.

Marching Band of Generals

The “Band of Generals” is the marching band at Shiloh High School .  The band’s main focus is to prepare a marching show that is performed at football games and marching band competitions during the fall of each year.  Because extra equipment is needed for activities such as competitions and band trips, a membership fee is required.

Wind Symphony

The Wind Symphony is the highest level concert ensemble at Shiloh High School .  The band members in this ensemble are auditioned and selected based on highest achievement on their instrument.  The band typically performs Level VI Music.  The Wind Symphony will be the premiere ensemble to represent Shiloh High School by touring and performing concerts on a National level.

Symphonic Band

The Symphonic Band is the next highest concert ensemble at Shiloh High School .  This band is a training and progression ensemble that will prepare students for Wind Symphony entry.  This band typically performs Level V Music.

Concert Band(s)

The Concert Band(s) are open to all students who have successfully completed a course of study in a middle school program.  The Concert Band typically performs Level III/IV Music.

Special Ensembles

Special Ensembles are organized for the further study of musical literature.  This may include groups such as a pep band, brass choir, woodwind choir, or jazz ensemble.

Note: All students are eligible to audition for any ensemble.  Each ensemble is equally significant to the Shiloh High School Band Program.  The placement into ensembles is based on highest achievement during the audition.  Attitude, discipline in the classroom, leadership, practice time, work ethic, and dedication to music will be taken into consideration upon placement into an ensemble
